This protective mask has the same filtration efficiency as the Type II mask, ie 98% or higher, but the mask is also splash resistant and is thus used by health and hospital staff for operations and the like, where splashes of body fluids may occur. It should be noted that the mask has a higher respiratory resistance, which means that it is a little harder to breathe in this mask than in Type I and Type II.
